I have been a Harry Potter fan for almost 6 years now. But never have I realized the closest similarities between Hogwartz and my school. Yes, Indeed we in our school were divided into four houses (Flemingo, Robin, Blue Jay, Kiwi). I really do not know why the houses were named as such. All I know for sure is that these are the names of the birds.
Similar to Quidditch there has been lots of competitions and sports between the houses. There used to be the points for triumphs. Unlike Harry potter there is no losing points for rule breaking. The thoughest part in this competition is to take part in the competition itself. The house concepts are applicable only to the students after Vth grade. And they have been divided into Junior (VI - X) and Senior groups (XI - XII). Unfortunately there is no sorting hat in our school and the people are divided into groups by picking up a lot.
The competitions usually will be held at the end of our academic year and a month before our final exams. So every new year will be like a festival for us as the sports and other events commences shortly after the new year. There used to be lot of competitions to represent the house in each and every sport. Usually it is only the students of higher grade ( Xth in case of Junior and XIIth incase of senior ) will be selected for the sports and if you need to make it at your early grades you need to be an excellent seeker ( like Harry Potter in Gryffindor ).
The competitions used to cheer all of us after a long haul of studies and its a way of relaxations before our final exams. Most students want to be part of any of the competition just to skip the classes ( Thank God for no Hermoine Granger in our school !!!). Not only sports even the houses earn their points by taking part in culturals and the results for the best house will be declared on the annual day and a house cup will be presented to the captain of the house. Yes, students will be chosen to represent each house and to finalize the participants of the house and teachers will be the house head and will help the captain of the house to chose their participants. The captain here will more likely to play the role of perfects in the Harry potter.
The final Annual day event will be really great where we students will be showing our various talents right from the morning of the day. And the prize distribution will take place in the evening. If you are an excellent dancer then your event will be scheduled in the end and you might end up staying late night in the school ( Thank God I am not one).
Remembering those memorable days always brings joy to me. The memories of school days with those innocent minds, eager to learn, astonishing to simple things and trying to best each other. Really those days are the sweetest memories of my life.
